SANTA is a large-scale rosary cast in bronze, whose beads are formed by pairs of nipples molded from the bodies of mothers. This monumental object draws on the traditional iconography of the rosary—historically associated with devotion to the Virgin Mary—reinterpreting it as a symbol of reverence for the earthly, real, and physical maternal figure. Rather than evoking unattainable purity and immaculate motherhood, this rosary celebrates the carnal, the imperfect, and the lived: the experience of motherhood grounded in the very materiality of the body.
